The figures we check
- Cooling capacity
- For a window unit, the BTU figure its maker lists. The U.S. Department of Energy sets how room units are rated. 10 CFR 430, Appendix F
- SACC
- Seasonally adjusted cooling capacity, the DOE figure for a portable. We rank portables by it and say so when a maker does not list it. DOE: portable air conditioners
- Room size
- The floor area the maker rates the unit for, in square feet.
- ENERGY STAR
- Shown only when the listing states it; the official list is the ENERGY STAR product finder. ENERGY STAR product finder
- Rated noise
- As the maker lists it, in decibels. We say so when a maker does not publish it.
